Areas We Serve
We serve Dayton, Ohio and surrounding areas, and every job is run from our home base in Dayton. The work is the same wherever you live: interior painting, drywall repair and installation, popcorn ceiling removal, cabinet painting, and drywall and paint for basements. Six cities have their own page, and each one covers how old its homes are and what that age means for the walls and ceilings inside them.
Dayton, Our Home Base
Dayton is where we are based. It is a city of 136,579 people with some of the oldest housing in the region: the median Dayton home was built in 1951, and 36.7% of homes went up in 1939 or earlier. The National Park Service notes that plaster was the wall surface of nearly all buildings until the 1930s or 40s, so many of those houses have plaster walls rather than drywall. That changes how a crack or a hole is repaired, so tell us when you call if your house is one of them.
Montgomery County Cities We Serve
Montgomery County is home to 536,096 people. The county's median year of construction is 1966, and 73.6% of its housing predates 1980. Besides Dayton, three cities here have their own page. In Kettering, half the homes were standing by 1961, and 85.5% by 1980, about the same share as Dayton. Riverside is close behind, with a median of 1963 and 77.5% of houses older than 1980. Huber Heights, which reaches into Miami County, is younger. Its typical house went up in 1976, and 79.8% are single-family detached, the highest share of our six town pages. In homes of these ages, walls carry layer on layer of paint, settling cracks and past patches, and all of it needs prep before new paint goes on.
Greene County Cities We Serve
Greene County, east of Dayton, counts 169,688 people. Half its homes date from 1976 or earlier, and 56.6% from before 1980. Beavercreek has the newest housing of our town pages: a median year of 1979, with about half its homes from 1980 or later, so drywall, builder paint and textured ceilings are the usual starting point. Fairborn, northeast of Dayton beside Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, sits in between with a median of 1970. Only 51.2% of its homes are owner-occupied, so many are rentals.
Other Nearby Cities
We also serve Centerville, Oakwood, Xenia, Vandalia and Miamisburg, and Oakwood's median home, built in 1938, is the oldest of any city on this page.
One Climate, Many House Ages
Wherever you live on this page, the climate is the same. NOAA's 1991-2020 normals for Dayton International Airport show 41.33 inches of precipitation a year, falling on 134.3 days, plus 25.0 inches of snow and 109.9 days with a low at or below freezing. Houses here spend the summer humid and the winter closed up and heated. Their wood framing takes on moisture and dries out again each year, and the walls move with it: seams crack, corners open and nails back out.
The age of the house matters as much as the city. A home from before 1950 likely has plaster. A house from the 1960s or 1970s often has nailed drywall and a textured ceiling. A newer one has its own builder finishes, usually flat paint that marks easily. We look at your walls, not your ZIP code.

Questions We Hear a Lot
-
Dayton, Ohio. Every city named on this page is one we reach from there, from Huber Heights in the north to Miamisburg in the south and Xenia in the east.
-
Ask us. Many streets sit close to a city line, and the list here is a guide, not a fence. Send your address and the work you need through the contact page, and you will get a straight answer.
-
Start with the age of the house: plaster was the usual wall surface until the 1930s or 40s, so a home built before 1950 very likely has it. Plaster feels hard and cold and sounds solid when you knock on it, and a pushpin is hard to press in. Drywall sounds hollow between the studs and takes a pushpin easily. Tell us which you have when you call, because a plaster repair is a different job from a drywall patch.
-
The house matters more than the city: its age, its walls and its ceilings decide the prep. Permits are a different question. Each city has its own building department, so for work beyond painting and finishing, check with yours.
